Your Holiday Crypto Reading Guide

As we head into the holidays we may find ourselves with more time to indulge in reading and other leisure activities. This is a perfect time to take a deeper dive into Bitcoin and the Blockchain space and prepare yourself and your business for what is certain to be interesting times in 2022.

I have put together my holiday Crypto reading guide. These are very Bitcoin focused books however I do believe they are a good start to anyone wanting a deeper understanding of the new crypto economy. I have also included Twitter handles for many of the authors and some influencers. The Bitcoin Twitter space is not only informative but highly entertaining as well with many influencers using funny memes to convey their ideas and not take themselves so seriously.

Here we go!

Layered Money by Nik Bhatia - Twitter @timevalueofbtc

Nik does an excellent job of not only explaining Bitcoin but also a brief history of money and settlements throughout time. As a amateur historian I enjoyed Nik taking the reader through an analysis that begins in Renaissance Florence with the gold Florin coin and a burgeoning banking culture, continues with the evolution of central banking, and concludes with a vision for the future of our international monetary system. He also does a good job of explaining the Lightning Network second layer of the Bitcoin Network that will handle many microtransactions in the future with Bitcoin itself acting as the final settlement layer just as Gold once did.

The Bitcoin Standard by Dr. Saifedean Ammous

It would be remiss of me not to mention this book. Though I have not read it myself, it is highly regarded in the Bitcoin space including two of my favorite thought leaders, an NFL lineman and CEO of Microstrategy, a multibillion dollar publicly traded company. See quotes below:

"This book blew my mind; it is a work of genius. It put together the technical, economic, motivational and related issues around Bitcoin better than anything I've seen. The best compliment I can give this book is that I read it and I decided to buy $425m of bitcoin. It was the most impactful on our way of thinking in Microstrategy and it made us want to invert our balance sheet to base it on a bitcoin standard."

--Michael Saylor, Cofounder, chairman, and CEO of Microstrategy Twitter: @Saylor

"The Bitcoin Standard is an incredible book."

--Russel Okung, NFL Super Bowl winner - Twitter: RusselOkung

Bitcoin and Black America by Isaiah Jackson Twitter: @bitcoinzay

Ready for a change in black economics? Join the Bitcoin revolution. Bitcoin and Black America is a dynamic new book that explores the synergy between black economics, Bitcoin and blockchain technology. The global financial system is changing and the digital revolution will not be televised. Explore how to incorporate Bitcoin into your business, job and educational institution. This book also outlines the need for separation from the racist banking system and a comprehensive list of black professionals actively working in the Blockchain industry.

Isaiah also has a popular Podcast on YouTube - The Gentlemen of Crypto

Bitcoin: Hard Money You Can't F*ck With by Jason A. Williams. Twitter: @GoingParabolic

From my wife.... "Jason’s book is an extremely accessible explanation of bitcoin – it’s. rise and its importance. The book starts with a delightful rendition of when Jason met with agents from the FBI curious (and suspicious) about the amount of energy his other businesses was expending.

He then leads us on a rip -roaring ride through his bitcoin journey and what he has learned along the way with his particular personality, which I really like, shining through. The book is broken down Into bite sized chapters that are easily digestible and understandable for even the most obtuse among us. This is not “the bitcoin standard”, this is not some highfalutin espousal, but an easy to read, fun-with-funny-drawings and extremely informative read for you or your friends who want to understand - but don’t need the effort a dissertation takes."

And finally the Bitcoin white paper.

I highly recommend reading and digesting over a few days, even weeks and then thinking about what this beautiful piece of computer science has put in motion.

Happy holidays to you and yours.
